Orpheus can also supply a full range of broadband hardware for all your networking needs.
We can supply broadband routers, network hubs and switches and leads/sundries. If you don't see what you require below, please feel free to contact us.
Our standard range of broadband routers include everything you require in order to get online. They have an integrated broadband modem and four port switch. This means that four computers can connect to the internet simultaneously.
Homeplug solutions enable your computers to 'talk' to each other via the standard mains wiring in your house. These provide an ideal solution for networking old computers or where you can't get a good wireless signal between rooms with thick walls.
If you have any questions about networking, or require help with specific or custom installations, please contact us.
All prices include VAT at 15% and include postage and packing. The price you see is the price you pay!

Turn any Electrical Socket into a Network Port
Electrical power is supplied and distributed around your house at 50Hz. However, the wires are actually capable of carrying a range of other frequencies which can be 'tuned-in' using appropriate equipment. Powerline technology takes advantage of this unused bandwidth of the electrical wiring in the home.
The PowerLine device plugs into the electrical socket and draws power for the device. At the same time, it sends data signals down the power cord. A second PowerLine device can then be placed on any electrical outlet in the home/office to receive the signal. Now any Ethernet device (internet cable/DSL modem or another computer) can connect to the PowerLine Ethernet port and create a home/office network. Range on Powerline can be expected to be 100m or more. Generally any circuit working on the same electricity meter will provide a good connection.
Although HomePlug technology is not a way of creating a telephone extension it can be an excellent way to distribute ADSL around your home in combination with an ADSL Modem/Router. The Solwise HomePlug 1.0 products are compatible with the VeseNET HomePlug 1.0 items. HomePlug 1.0 co-exists with HomePlug AV but units will not inter-operate with each other.

The V500DS is a stand-alone Skype DECT phone that allows users to access both the PSTN and Skype network. The PC-Less Skype DECT is implemented with embedded Skype software, which incorporates Skype features such as Voicemail, call forwarding and Skype-In/Skype-Out services.
There is no need to have the Skype application running on a PC (No PC is required to make Skype calls). Once the base station is connected to the Internet, the handset will become an embedded Skype device, and the user can make Skype-to-Skype calls, or Skype In/Out calls with fixed-line numbers (Skype chargeable service).
The Skype user contact list is shown on a 1.5" colour handset screen. The users can easily see their contacts' status and profiles, as well as their Skype credit balances for SkypeOut. New users can be added on the handset.
There are separate call lists for both the PSTN and Skype Calls, and the users can easily identity the call lists as either from PSTN or Skype. So long as there is a broadband connection to the V500-DS phone you can make Skype to Skype/landline calls without the need to have phone connected direct to your landline (this means you would not be able to make landline to landline calls). The phone has speakerphone, keypad backlight and polyphonic ring tones as standard features. There is also a headset option.
